Mixed Media on paper. I worked on this piece in a workshop I attended near Barga, Italy. The Maestro was big on lots of layers, worked al fresco in different locations. After preparing a textured substrate of paper, I sketched buildings in the hilltop village over the textures, then painted them with tempra. In the afternoon we arrived in a different village and were randomly given photocopies of various statues where we used chalk pastels to draw these images over the layers we had. Returning home I added another layer of grapes as a collage element to turn my statue into Baccus the famous god of wine.
